British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

Westerra Equipment, as a part of the Wesgroup Equipment family of companies, entered into a multi-year sponsorship to support students entering into Heavy Mechanical Trades, Sales and Marketing in 2019. We are a company committed to being an industry leader and this sponsorship helps us improve course content by supplying relevant industry information to educators and students.

In 2020, two students from BCIT's Marketing Management program were awarded the The Wesgroup Equipment Graduating Achievement Award for Professional Sales.

Women in Technology Fund (WITF)

We want to do our part to empower and motivate women entering into trades, an industry underrepresented by women. From our BCIT sponsorship, a portion goes directly to the WITF to support women pursuing a career in trades. The WITF provides fund matching to a BCIT program that is underrepresented by women, and offers financial support to a female student entering the designated program. In addition to our contribution, BCIT will allocate a further $2000 to an eligible female candidate, with first preference going to a student of the Heavy Mechanical Trades Foundation.

University of the Fraser Valley (UFV)

We entered into a multi-year sponsorship with UFV to support students in their Heavy Mechanical Trades Foundation Program in 2019. We provide both a monetary donation to the program, and new or used equipment to facilitate hands on learning for the students.
